He likes to weave six massage modalities and 25 years' experience into his own technique, working deeply enough to get the musculature to let go without the body beginning to react, brace and protect itself. He believes that it is a misnomer that Deep-tissue massage needs to be painful in order to be effective. The body wants to return to homeostasis and will surrender under the right circumstances.
Brian offers a perfect blend of long, soothing strokes to warm and prepare the musculature, long-held steady pressure to release constriction, and highly detailed work to address specific issues. Rhythm and a varied pace are also integral to a well-rounded massage. Most importantly, he understands that each person is different in what they like, dislike and respond best to, so he customizes each massage for the individual client.
He invites his clients to let go, relax into the table, surrender under his hands and guarantees that they will FEEL rested, renewed, and resilient.
Brian prefers 90-minute full-body massage sessions. However, 30-minute and 60-minute sessions are available for dealing with specific problems that require focus and attention.
If you are in the mood for something a little different or simply prefer deep tissue, then try Fijian Massage. Fijian massage is perfect for shorter sessions!
Fijian massage is excellent for treating chronic muscle aches and stiffness, as it is generally less painful than traditional deep tissue, more effective than sports massage, and more stimulating than Swedish. It is especially helpful for the upper and lower back and it is an excellent hip opener, which can alleviate sciatic impingements.
Like Thai massage, the procedure is done on a BodyCushion System on the floor with the client dressed in loose cotton clothing and is, therefore, ideal for modest individuals. In this modality the feet are used as a tool in 8 different ways without ever standing on the body.
Fijian massage is usually passed down paternally, generation to generation. However, it was taught to Brian by New Zealander, Lolita Knight.
Lolita has given him full accreditation to teach and to offer 16 Continuing Education Units. He is available to teach anywhere.
